What Is a DPF?

A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) traps soot from diesel exhaust to reduce emissions. During driving, soot is burned off through regeneration — either passive (naturally during highway driving) or active (initiated by the ECU).

If regeneration cannot occur, soot and ash build up. This leads to reduced performance, warning lights, and potential long-term damage. In severe cases, replacement may be required.
